The key to CQI in medical education

The practice of continuous quality improvement (CQI) in medical schools is mandated by the LCME as a standard required for a school’s accreditation. Initiating and maintaining a practice of true CQI in an organization is one that has historically been fraught with challenges.

The key to many of those challenges is the quality of data that enables the CQI cycle. Healthy data is the necessary ingredient to any effective and truly continuous CQI process.

This white paper outlines the pathway medical schools must follow to:

  • maintain accreditation by satisfying LCME’s standard 1.1
  • establish the right policies and procedures to ensure the ongoing health of their data
  • create operational systems that enable data to drive insights, not admin
