How Duet Works

Programs first

Your program stakeholders complete the Duet assessment, identifying the relevant aspects of your program’s mission and environment. This is how you will build your unique Program Profile.

Applicants next

Applicants complete the same assessment and select their preferences, based on what they value in a program.

Results that matter

Applicant scores are calculated according to your distinct Program Profile, with comparisons made across categories like academics, culture and clinical experience.

Key features

Duet differentiates applicants and programs

All applicants and programs create their own unique profiles, and the Duet alignment
scores are unique for each applicant-program pair.

Online & easily accessible

Duet can be taken online, from anywhere, as long as the applicant has access to a laptop and good internet connection — in only 15 minutes.

See a well-rounded view of your applicants

Duet measures alignment across three categories, like academics, culture and clinical experience, and it delivers a score for each category, allowing you to evaluate each applicant based on your program’s mission and priorities.

Duet is grounded in research

Duet’s framework is grounded in evidence (modified Delphi research technique and an extensive literature review) and assessment content for each version of Duet is developed in partnership with our program community. This ensures Duet effectively captures key program characteristics and differentiators that matter most in identifying your perfect program fit.

We used Duet to find additional candidates to interview. These candidates had lower step scores so we would have missed them otherwise, but with Duet we were able to interview 18 candidates that were fabulous!

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I find the candidates that are best suited for my medical program?

Evidence-based value-alignment assessments like Duet can significantly enhance your selection process by ensuring applicants’ priorities are aligned with the goals and environment of your program. Duet can help your medical education program identify candidates who will appreciate your program’s context and contribute positively to your program’s culture and mission.

How will Duet help me identify the best applicants to invite to our undergraduate or graduate medical program?

Various faculty and non-faculty program stakeholders take the assessment and a Program Profile is generated. This profile ranks your program’s values and priorities based on the aggregated responses.

Applicants complete the same assessment, selecting their preferences based on what they value in a program. Then, your Program Profile is compared with each applicant’s ranking of values and priorities, resulting in scores that show the degree of alignment across several categories.
