Altus Assessments recognized in Deloitte’s Technology Fast 50™ Companies to Watch

Altus Assessments is proud to announce that we have been selected as one of Deloitte’s Technology Fast 50™ “Companies to Watch”, a list celebrating up and coming innovative companies with early-stage growth, exceptional technology and experienced senior leadership. The awards speak to the unique strengths of the technology industry within Canada, and we’re honoured to be a part of this prestigious group of companies. For 22 years, this program has recognized forward-thinking companies at the cutting edge of innovative technologies.

“Altus has always been a trailblazer in the academic admissions market,” says Tony Vlismas, Head of Marketing at Altus. “Being part of Deloitte’s Fast 50™ Companies to Watch is a great milestone for us as it speaks to the passion of our team, and the dedication to creating a world served by outstanding professionals. The growth we’ve experienced is a testament to how our higher education admissions teams are striving to find better ways to select the best students from their applicant pools.”

Altus’ flagship Casper product is an online situational judgment test (SJT), an efficient and reliable higher education admissions assessment of the people skills of students applying to academic programs, including medicine, nursing, teaching, and engineering currently. Casper uses a combination of video and written scenarios, timed open-ended questions, and is scored by human raters. Backed by over 10 years of psychometric research, and easily combined with traditional academic admissions measures of cognitive abilities, Casper provides admissions teams with a more holistic view of applicants, helping to identify the best-suited individuals to admit to their programs. Over 200 academic partners use Casper, and Altus assesses over 100,000 applicants per year, including 80 percent of all US and Canadian medical school applicants.

The company continues to expand its reach into the admissions market by hosting The Admissions Summit, an annual multi-day conference in Toronto, focused on bringing together admissions professionals from across the globe to discuss best practices, and to learn from industry experts and their peers alike. In 2020, The Admissions Summit will also serve as the place where the recipients of the newly announced the Alo Grant will be announced. The Alo Grant is an annual $100,000 research grant, built to accelerate the creation of new research that will strengthen the admissions community, and will focus on providing funding to academic admissions research. These initiatives, in combination with delivering the Casper test, allows Altus to continue to grow and fulfil our vision of creating exceptional professionals, as we look forward into 2020 and beyond.
